Circa 1900 Spalding Mushroom Bat. Note the “Pat. Apld. For” text in the center brand stamping of this rare lumber–that patent was ultimately granted on August 1, 1905, and later models with otherwise identical stamping make note of this date. Like all lumber from this period of the Dead Ball Era of baseball, this is a stout, thick-handled relic, uncracked and surviving remarkably well. Cleat marks visible on barrel.

Length is thirty-five inches (35″). Weight is fourty-eight ounces (48 oz.).
